Why the defensiveness?

We have received messages throughout the past several days accusing us of only posting some comments- the ones which made the blog look good. If you read through the comments, more than half them actually DISAGREE with this blog. But they make points for why they disagree. We have chosen so far not to post responses which curse just to curse and have no other message.

Those posts have been increasing throughout the day. For those who are so defensive that all they can do is yell vulgarities, we have this to ask- why are you ashamed that your words and actions have been made public? If your sites do nothing wrong, why do you curse at us for publishing the sites's words?

Good job hiding your identity for as long as you have, MamaV.

I will only ask you to take this site down. Please e-mail me, maybe we can come to some sort of reconciliation...I have had an eating disorder for the past 10 years, and have been disgusted with the pro-ana rage that's been sweeping across the net. Trust me, your intentions are very good and I applaud your efforts to make a valid point. However, you took these pictures from a site that is NOT pro-ana; our forum rules at cerulean butterfly prohibit any pro-anorexia postings. Your blog would be much more effective if you took pictures from actual pro-ana sites. Try myspace groups like "nothing left"--THEY are the faces of pro-ana. They are the ones with tips on how to restrict and purge on their home page. You would be sending a much deeper message, and it would be infinitely more well informed. I, and all of the other girls wrongfully featured on your blog, will not stand for this any longer. Please e-mail me; we can begin working on a truthful exposee that defines the true faces of pro-ana.
I believe this is the inpsiration you've been looking for, MamaV.

Just for your info..

They are trying to HACK your site, I would report them to eblogger...

Still trying to hack…

My father could attempt to hack into the site, also. If people want him to, he will. But if you’d rather he didn’t, and we attempted that the pictures come down another way, then that’s okay. I’m just making a suggestion, as it seems that they’re not going to see sense.

rach, I, for one, would want him to try. If I was still in contact some really awesome hackers I was friends with I would have had them on it the moment I found out (one I’m sure could crack blogger, he’s cracked into simular places/places with more protection). Unfortunatly I doubt they will come down any other way. Blogger seems pretty resistant, and whoever posted it won’t. Fuck, hacking it, they’ll probably but it up again/someplace else, but I figure like most spite places it will be forgotten after awhile.

Okay, i’ll see what he can do?
Thing is - we have been warned that this is illegal, and we could be sued for it. We’ve just got to weigh up our chances, i guess.

My dad and I would be prepared to do it, if it could help you all, and that’s what you wanted, despite the whole illegal risk side of it. So, surely, if my dad and i take responsibility for it, cb can’t get into trouble. I just want to make 100% sure of this before i get him to do it.

But if you hack into the site and delete the pictures or whatever…they still have them saved somewhere else….right? What would stop them from just starting up another site and adding all our pictures again?

Im with getting those pictures off quickly and swiftly but i just can’t help thinking that what we are discussing here, who ever is behind all this….is reading exactly what we’re planning…

Maybe im being paranoid too but if they were logged in to grab the photos they could be logged in to read all this.

Sorry, what do i know? *not point fingers at butterflies here*
Do you get my drift?

Other than that im with the suggestions above

To be honest, I think this is a great idea, but it would be better if you put the sites where you got the pictures or something. Because right now it just looks like a bunch of pictures pulled off from online, and there's no way to know if you actually got them from eating disordered people or not, other than your word.

Also, I think the Faces of Meth thing was shown not to shame the meth users, but to show the effects of what such a horrible addiction has on a person. However, all I see are a bunch of pictures of girls that are supposed to be ashamed of their involvement with pro-ana sites.

I'm confused..98% of these girls look beautiful and healthy to me.

I think this site is a waste of time.

Haha.
I'm not sure what to think of this blog yet, but for now I think it's rather amusing how you've exposed pro-ana. The people who have commented and said these girls are not thin, even that they are fat, and that they do not have anorexia or other eating disorders, are right. Pro-anas don't have eating disorders, and it is disgusting that people think pro-ana = eating disorder. People who actually have eating disorders find pro-ana insulting and hurtful. Pro-ana is actually extremely detrimental to those with real eating disorders, and I think people need to be aware that pro-anas are just normal bored attention whores who have no respect.

I respect your mission here, to expose the evils of being pro-mental-illness, but I must disagree with using so-called "pro-ana" pictures.
Girls often steal pictures of others, post them elsewhere, claim stolen pictures as their own, or even swipe pictures of girls without eating disorders and use them as their own. The chance of using and unfairly labeling someone is too great when just using pictures.

Besides, this isn't "striking" anymore. I'd like to see a new way to attack the pro-ana communities outside of just using pictures.

If anything, I'd rather see pictures of people who have greatly suffered and died because of the disease to make it more realistic--especially people who have passed that aren't emaciated. Victims HAVE died from an ED without being underweight.

Just my thoughts.
